SPCA Telethon

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I have to say I'm happy that the week is halfway over as it's been a busy one to say the least and I'm sure all of you can relate! I received my weekly volunteer email from the SPCA last night and saw that on February 4th there will be an Adopt-a-Pet Fund Telethon at News Channel 12. I encourage all of you in the Cincinnati area to turn in and please donate!! I am currently a new intern at the News Channel so this is great to see two of my organizations working together for a wonderful cause! Well I wish everyone a great rest of your wednesday and week!

XOXO

Primrose Christmas Party!

Last wednesday I had the wonderful pleasure of attending the Primrose Christmas Party in Lima, Ohio. It was a festive night filled with decorations, food, carolers, talent and wonderful company! I was the host for the night of wonderful singing from Kelsey and Jessica Barrett, Breah Anderson, and Natalee Patrick. Their beautiful voices really got me in the holiday spirit! It was such a wonderful way to start my holiday festivities and I thank the Primrose Community and my director Leslie Townesend for having me!

Trip to Bud's Chevrolet!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! I hope that all of you are having a very blessed day and remembering and reflecting on what you are thankful for. I know I am so fortunate to have everything that I do especially the experiences, opportunities, and people that I have been blessed with in my life. Two people I've been blessed with in my life is Tom and Ann Hendricks. They are great contributors and supporters of the Miss Lake Festival Scholarship Program and I have been lucky enough to work with them and get to know them over the past four years. Recently I was at Bud's Chevrolet where I got a special treatment from Tom by getting to sit in one of the newest corvette's, tour the corvette showroom, and I even got to drive one of the new electric powered cars, the Volt.

While I do love my sports cars, I was very impressed by the Volt. When I turned it one I didn't even know it was on and running as it was so quiet! Not only that, but it drove extremely smooth and had lots of fun and technological gadgets on the inside. I loved it! Thank you so much to Tom for the fun day the dealership and for providing great service to my family. I enjoyed seeing you and my day at Bud's!

Again, I wish everyone a very blessed Thanksgiving! Please check out my list of appearances to see where you can find me this december!!

All my love, xoxo Devon

Miss Crystal Lake 2011

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to become Miss Crystal Lake 2011!!!!!!! I cannot explain how happy I am and how excited I am for this upcoming year, as I have so much that I plan to do, especially with my platform and community engagements. This pageant really was a blast to compete in because of the contestants being such great girls. I can't say enough how well all of the contestants did and I would like to congratulate:

Mindy Fetzer on winning People's Choice award and 3rd runner up.
Samantha Hartings on winning Swimsuit and 2nd runner up.
Kirsten Fennig on winning Interview and 1st runner up.

And to my new sister queen and Miss West Central Elissa McCraken!!!! I look forward to sharing this year with you and really enjoyed getting to know you better at the pageant. I think it will be a fantastic year for both of us, as well as, returning to Miss Ohio 2012 together.

I also wanted to give a huge congratulations to my roomate this past year at MO Jessica Nelson, for being crowned Miss North Coast last night!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhhh!!! I'm so happy for you and it was well deserved as I know how hard you work and your passion and desire to the program.

Thank you EVERYONE who supported me this weekend and to those of you who came out to the pageant. A special thank you to Michelle, Courtney Monk, Alyssa Waldman, and Becky Minger for being there. It was so nice of you to come and really meant alot to me. As I always say, the experience and win would not be nearly as great without the people I love there supporting and cheering for me. Thank you again as I am always grateful.

I enjoyed a fun appearance with my sister queen and with Miss America 2009, Katie Stam yesterday at Primrose in Marion. Today I am off to celebrate Kelsey Barrett's send off to the Miss America Outstanding Teen Pageant!! Good Luck to her and I look forward to seeing everyone at the send off today.

Well speaking of send off, I need to get ready as I am still currently in my PJ's! haha

I thank God for blessing me with this wonderful weekend and for having it in his plan for me to be your Miss Crystal Lake 2011.

Have a great day everyone!

First day with Scooter!

Today was my first day of doing physical therapy with "Scooter" at the Cincinnati SPCA. His back legs were badly injured to where he had to have several surgeries. I am now working with him twice a week in therapy sessions in order for him to gain full use of his back legs again. After Scooter was done for the day, I went and socialized with a black lab, "Ellie," and another dog, "Simba." While it was too hot for us to go outside today, we were able to play a bit in the meet and greet rooms. I look forward to seeing Scooter's progress and sharing it with all of you!

Also, Enjoy your weekend at the Lake Festival Jena! It will go fast so soak up every moment and meet as many people as you can! :) Have fun.
